POST for Fairing Windshield

Why your sunglasses get blown off at highway speeds – and how to fix it?

A Street Glide rider on the Harley Davidson Forums recently mentioned that at highway speeds, the wind gets so strong it blows his sunglasses right off. Chances are, many of you have experienced the same thing.

The root cause is simple: most Street Glide windshields are in the 6″ to 8″ range. That height does little to protect your face. At speed, the concentrated airflow hits you right in the face, which can not only knock off your shades but also make it harder to breathe comfortably.

To solve this, you need to redirect the air over the top of your helmet.

Option one – swap your current windshield for a taller one, typically 9″ to 10″ or even higher. A taller shield pushes the air up and over your head. The downside? A very tall windshield can throw off the classic low-profile look of the Street Glide fairing.

Option two – go with a windshield that’s engineered with better aerodynamics. Look for a curved or recurved top edge designed to lift the airflow without adding excessive height. This reduces wind blast on your face, so you don’t have to worry about losing your sunglasses at highway speeds – and you keep the sleek, aggressive stance of your bike.

If that sounds like the solution you’ve been searching for, take a closer look at this windshield. It was built specifically to solve the airflow issues riders like you face every time you roll on the throttle.
